It’s Just a Fling, Baby! Dog Fosters Needed! $100 gift card Spring Fling BONUS

Are you an animal lover looking to make a difference in the lives of homeless pets? The SPCA of Texas is currently offering an exciting opportunity to do just that.

The SPCA of Texas is experiencing record high numbers of dogs in our shelters. There are more than 515 dogs currently in our care (including current foster homes), and more are arriving each day. And this is all happening in Spring when our shelters are also flooded with orphaned kittens and puppies.

We need help clearing kennel space at our Dallas Animal Care Center to give adorable, adoptable dogs a chance to find their forever homes! To do this, the SPCA of Texas is offering $100 gift cards to the first 30 people who foster available animals as an incentive to thank foster families for their help (generously sponsored by several donors). 

This incentive applies to fosters who take in a dog for a three-week period. Only one foster incentive is offered per household. We also ask that you:

• Share pictures and videos with the foster team twice during the foster period.
• Complete Foster Facts to tell us about the dog’s personality at least once before their return.
• Be an Adoption Ambassador for your foster dog. That means sharing with family and friends as well as on social media, plus taking your foster to at least one mobile adoption event. This will help find an adopter so that the foster dog doesn’t even need to come back to the shelter.
• Be available for scheduled Meet & Greets with potential adopters.
• Follow all foster policies and procedures.

Dogs that are eligible for this incentive are adult dogs available for adoption AND puppies or moms and puppies (puppies will be placed in groups of two or more).

Once you have found a furry friend you would like to foster, here’s how you take the next steps:

1. If you are already an approved foster, email foster@spca.org with the name of the dog you are able to foster, your best options for pick up (between 10am-5pm daily) and please mention the incentive program!
2. If you are not yet a foster but ready to sign up, please fill out the foster application (select the option for “2-4 weeks”) and an SPCA of Texas team member be in touch with you.

What’s more, the SPCA of Texas will provide all the supplies you need to be a foster! This includes food, bedding, toys, bowls, treats, medicine and anything else the dogs need. This makes the fostering process easy and stress-free for you, as you won’t need to worry about the cost of supplies.

By fostering an animal, you not only help give them a second chance at life but also make space in the shelter to save another or one more dog’s life.
