Meet Joy!
Three-month-old Juniper has already faced more uncertainty than any puppy should.
She came to us from a custody case and had very little positive socialization before arriving at the shelter. Everything about this new environment is overwhelming, and she’s still trying to figure out if people are safe. When approached, Joy becomes very fearful—she’ll retreat to the back of her kennel, tremble, avoid interaction, and isn’t ready to accept treats from a person’s hand. With a little distance and patience, though, her curiosity begins to peek through.
Joy isn’t giving up—she just needs someone willing to meet her where she is.
This sweet girl is searching for a patient, understanding foster who can provide a quiet home, let her build confidence at her own pace, and show her that kindness always wins. Every gentle interaction, every tossed treat, and every calm moment will help her learn that the world doesn’t have to be so scary.
She’s still just a puppy, and with the right foster, we know Joy can grow into the happy, confident dog she’s meant to be.
If you have the time, patience, and heart to help Joy on her journey, please email foster@spca.org. Your kindness could change her life forever.
