Pony Attacked By Dogs Now Has Hope for a Happy Future

The pony, now named PeeWee, was in bad shape when we arrived. We transported him from Dallas to our Russell H. Perry Animal Care Center in McKinney, where we immediately provided him with urgent medical care. Due to the severity of the wounds to his eye and leg, PeeWee required hospitalization. To make matters worse, PeeWee had existing health issues that made treatment difficult. It was going to take a lot of hard work and money to fix PeeWee, but in addition to contributions from generous SPCA of Texas donors, a local rescue group helped raise funds to cover the cost of his surgery.

The veterinary team at Weems & Stephens Equine Hospital had a lot of work ahead of them to save PeeWee’s life. It was touch and go for a while, but this strong little Shetland Pony pulled through surgery to have his eye removed and bite wounds debrided. We were so relieved when PeeWee was stable enough to transport back to our facilities so we could help him start the healing process.

PeeWee is now fully healed, and a cheerful addition to our barn. This gentle, sweet creature is now looking for a home where he can be a spoiled companion pony.
