FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(DALLAS, TX; NEW YORK CITY, NY); DATE, 2020– The SPCA of Texas partnered with Hearts & Bones Animal Rescue to transport 27 dogs from Dallas, Texas to New York City, New York. The transport comes at just the right time, as the SPCA of Texas renovates the recently acquired Ellis County Animal Care Center and improves animal care areas of the Russell E. Dealey Animal Rescue Center. SPCA of Texas and Hearts & Bones staff drove the dogs from Dallas to New York City, departing on Thursday, November 19, 2020, and arriving on Saturday, November 21. The dogs have been placed into foster homes with Hearts & Bones Animal Rescue foster families to wait for their adoption.

The transport was a joint effort between the SPCA of Texas and the New York and Texas-based Hearts & Bones Animal Rescue to load, transport, care for and unload the dogs at Acme Dog Run in Brooklyn, a safe place outdoors with adequate social distancing, where the dogs were handed off to their foster families upon their arrival.
Hearts & Bones runs bi-weekly transports of shelter dogs from Texas to New York City, where there are hundreds of people waiting to adopt a dog. By moving dogs out of Texas, where shelters are regularly at capacity and so many dogs are in need, the organization is able to create space for shelter partners to save more lives while uniting hundreds of dogs with forever families on the East Coast.
The SPCA of Texas and Hearts & Bones Animal Rescue started partnering earlier this year to help increase lifesaving efforts in the North Texas area. In 2020, Hearts and Bones has taken approximately 150 dogs from the SPCA of Texas, matching all of them up with loving foster homes in and around New York City, and ultimately uniting them all with wonderful forever families.
