FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(DALLAS, TX); April 28, 2021 – The SPCA of Texas‘ 16th annual Strut Your Mutt, the Race to End Animal Cruelty, presented by VCA Animal Hospitals and Hill’s Pet Nutrition is only two weeks away! The event will take place virtually Thursday, May 6 through Saturday, May 8, 2021. The event is virtual, and minimal contact swag bag pick-ups will take place at the Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center at 2400 Lone Star Drive in Dallas from noon to 2 p.m. The SPCA of Texas is inviting its supporters and friends to register, form teams and raise funds to end animal cruelty, as the SPCA of Texas needs the support of the community now more than ever during these challenging times. To get started right away, visit gostrut.org.
Strutters who register between April 26 and May 2 will be entered to win the opportunity to name one of the SPCA of Texas’ shelter kittens. The winning name will be announced on the SPCA of Texas’ social media pages the week of Strut Your Mutt. Additionally, the SPCA of Texas is hosting a Scavenger Hunt in its Strut Your Mutt Virtual Village from now until May 8. To participate, visit gostrut.org and scroll down to see the Virtual Village. There, strutters can find a form with 15 questions. Participants can browse through the sponsors and their websites at the Virtual VIllage to find the answers to the questions. Those who submit correct answers to all 15 questions will be entered to win some amazing Strut Your Mutt prizes. Winners will be announced on Tuesday, May 11.
The goal of Strut Your Mutt is to raise awareness about animal cruelty in North Texas. The SPCA of Texas’ Animal Cruelty Investigations Unit responds to thousands of calls to rescue abandoned or neglected animals, many resulting in criminal convictions in multiple North Texas counties. This critical work continues, even amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
To participate, register and form a team at their all new website, gostrut.org, and fundraise to help the SPCA of Texas. Registration for a virtual strutter with a sport t-shirt is $40, a virtual strutter with a t-shirt is $35 and a virtual strutter without a t-Shirt is $25. Additionally, runners can track their mileage with apps such as Run Keeper and Strava. Once a team is registered and given a memorable name, strutters can set up a fundraising goal, recruit team members and build team spirit through their team page.
Then, between now and May 8, strutters can walk or run from the safety of their neighborhoods or their favorite paths, tracks or trails…with their best canine friends by their side, of course! All at their own pace.
