If any dogs test positive for Canine Distemper Virus (CDV) at the shelter, we are immediately isolating them at our medical teams counsel and attempting to get them into a foster home. Since distemper positive dogs can shed the virus to other dogs for up to 3 months, they need to be isolated for that entire period or they pose a risk to other dogs at the shelter.

It’s with a happy heart we announce the SPCA of Texas received a $15,000 grant investment from Petco Love to support our lifesaving Community Cats Program in North Texas. This program helps trap, spay/neuter, vaccinate and return to habitat for free roaming cats cared for by community members.
With help from this grant, the SPCA of Texas will help make the streets of North Texas “Litter Free” by equipping communities to create positive outcomes for cats and kittens through community-based fostering, developing new foster programs, finding loving homes for adoptable cats and kittens and proactive spay/neuter campaigns.
