It’s National Volunteer Week and we are ready to shout from the rooftops about how wonderful the SPCA of Texas volunteers are! We literally would not be able to operate without them. We rely heavily on volunteers to help us with basic tasks in virtually every department at the SPCA of Texas.
Whether they’re walking dogs, taking photos, grooming pigs, mucking out horse stalls, washing dishes, counseling adopters, or any of the other hundreds of things they do, volunteers are the backbone of the SPCA of Texas. These selfless people dedicate their valuable time and energy to improving the lives of homeless animals in our care. We’re so proud of everything they do and we think the world should know!
In 2018, 2,346 volunteers donated 212,753 hours of their time through fostering and volunteering in the shelter. During those hours, volunteers went on 321,651 dog walks, washed 217,175 dishes, did 644 tons of laundry, delivered 420,070 minutes of enrichment activities, supervised 1,248 playgroups and picked up 81,441 lbs of dog poop!
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you, volunteers!
