Special experiences for you, your family or your organization.

ANIMAL FOCUSED

From tail wags to purrs, our animal-focused volunteer activities are all about making a difference—and having fun while doing it! Whether you’re walking dogs, reading to shy pets, snapping adorable photos of our cats, or joining us at our weekly mobile adoption events, there’s something for everyone. With so many exciting ways to get involved, you’ll be helping shelter animals learn, grow, and shine while they wait for their forever homes!

COMMUNITY FOCUSED

At the SPCA of Texas, we’re here for pets and their people—and you can be too! If you love connecting with your community, we have impactful volunteer opportunities that help keep pets healthy, happy, and in their homes. Join us in distributing supplies through our Pet Pantry, supporting recovery after surgery, assisting at vaccine clinics, spreading the word at community events and fairs, and even lending a hand at fundraisers. These roles are perfect for those who want to make a real difference—one tail wag, one conversation, and one family at a time.

OPERATIONS FOCUSED

Volunteers are the behind-the-scenes heroes that keep the SPCA of Texas running strong! If you love rolling up your sleeves and making things happen, we have plenty of hands-on opportunities—like tackling laundry and dishes, deep cleaning, building enrichment toys, organizing supplies, sewing cozy pet items, managing inventory, or helping with data entry. Every task, big or small, plays a vital role in creating a clean, comfortable, and enriching environment for the animals in our care.

FOSTER HEROES

Volunteers in our Foster Program give animals the chance to shine outside the shelter, helping them build confidence, recover, grow, and show off their true personalities. By becoming a Borrow-a-Buddy foster, you’ll also unlock special volunteer opportunities—like joining our Tails N’ Trails hiking group or taking adoptable dogs out into the community at mobile events. It’s the perfect way to support our animals, give them more visibility, and help them find the loving homes they deserve.

KIDS & FAMILIES

Looking for a fun and meaningful way to get involved as a family? The SPCA of Texas has youth-friendly volunteer opportunities for animal lovers ages 10 to 17! Whether you’re walking dogs, creating enrichment, or helping at events, it’s a great way to learn, grow, and give back. Volunteers under 15 just need to bring a parent or guardian who’s at least 18 years old to join the fun. Team up, make memories, and be a part of something truly paw-some—together!

YOUNG PROFESSIONALS

Join a passionate group of emerging young leaders making a difference for animals in need! Our Young Professionals support the SPCA of Texas through impactful fundraising, hands-on volunteering, and exciting social events.

COURT-ORDERED SERVICE

Individuals age 10+ can fulfill their Court-Appointed Community Service (CCS) hours related to non-violent crimes such as basic traffic tickets and some minor alcohol and drug-related charges. Then we hope you’ll stay as a volunteer!
