Meet Joy
At just 3 months old, Joy should be discovering that the world is full of fun, love, and adventure. Instead, this sweet little girl is still learning that people can be kind.
Joy came to us from a custody case and has had very little positive socialization. Right now, the shelter is a scary place for her. She trembles when approached, retreats to the back of her kennel, and isn’t quite ready to trust a gentle hand. Even though she won’t take treats from a person just yet, she’ll cautiously enjoy them once she feels there’s a little space and safety.
What Joy needs most isn’t perfection—it’s patience.
She is looking for a calm, compassionate foster who will let her move at her own pace, celebrate the little victories, and show her that people can be a source of comfort instead of fear. Every quiet moment, every tossed treat, and every gentle interaction will help build the confidence she’s never had the chance to develop.
The shelter isn’t the place where Joy will truly blossom. With a loving foster, we know this timid puppy can learn to trust, play, and finally experience what it means to just be a happy puppy.
If you have the time, patience, and heart to help Joy, please email foster@spca.org. Together, we can give this sweet girl the fresh start she deserves.
