FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(DALLAS, TX; McKINNEY, TX); November 10, 2020 – The SPCA of Texas is excited to announce that its 30th annual Home for the Holidays and 6th annual Bark + Build Luxury Dog House and Cat Condo Design/Build Competition and Adoption Event will be held virtually now through December 31, 2020.
The Bark + Build Luxury Dog House and Cat Condo Design/Build Competition and silent auction kicked off on November 9, 2020 with 18 custom-made houses being placed up for silent auction. These one-of-a-kind creations were designed and built by members of the American Institutes of Architects Dallas Chapter (AIA Dallas) and TEXO, The Construction Association.
All of the entries will be auctioned off online at spcaholidays.com. You can bid online until 8 p.m. on December 28, 2020. All money raised will go towards the SPCA of Texas’ important mission to provide every animal exceptional care and a loving home.
All entries for AIA Dallas and TEXO, The Construction Association’s Bark + Build Luxury Dog House and Cat Condo Design/Build Competition will be judged on both design and construction quality by a jury panel. Awards include: Top Dog Award, Best in Show Award, Hot Dog Award, Teacup Pup Award, Furr-Niture Award, Big Dog Award and the Cat Condo Award. The Top Dog Award will be presented to the home with the most bids in the silent auction.
The sixth annual Bark + Build competition will feature six pet houses at NorthPark Center from November 19 – December 28 and select pet homes at the Architecture and Design Exchange in Dallas from November 5 – December 7 and at select Sewell Automotive Companies locations from December 7 – December 28.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the SPCA of Texas will not have pets available for adoption at NorthPark Center as it has in the past years. Instead, the SPCA of Texas will be having an ongoing adoption special, sponsored by Sewell Automotive Companies, from November 10 through December 31, 2020. During this time, adoption fees for adult cats and dogs will be 50% off at both the SPCA of Texas’ Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center in Dallas and the SPCA of Texas’ Russell H. Perry Animal Care Center in McKinney.
Adoptable pets will be featured online at www.spca.org/findapet. Adoptions will be available by appointment only by visiting www.spca.org/dogadopt to inquire about a dog and www.spca.org/catadopt to inquire about a cat.
