This July, the SPCA of Texas is proud to recognize Daniela Chavez as our Volunteer of the Month. Since joining the volunteer team in November 2024, Daniela has been an unstoppable force of compassion, dedication, and positivity.
Staff members describe Daniela as someone who is always willing and ready to help—especially with adoptions—and someone who goes above and beyond at offsite events. From completing every level of volunteer training we offer to mentoring new volunteers, Daniela’s commitment shines in everything she does.
“Daniela is such a kind, friendly, and outgoing person,” one staff member shared. “She’s a wonderful representation of the SPCA of Texas to our community.”
Daniela supports the organization in countless ways, from assisting with adoptions to caring for animals and volunteering at the monthly pet pantry. She’s even a regular at the Resource Center, helping families keep their beloved pets happy and healthy.
When asked about her favorite memory, Daniela didn’t hesitate. “Trivia Night,” she smiled. “I really enjoyed playing with my fellow volunteers, and I met some new people. And, just an FYI, my group won trivia night!”
Daniela’s passion for animals is best captured in her bond with Maddox, the first “orange” dog she walked. “Maddox has had a special place in my heart ever since,” she said. “He’s so loving and playful and always ready for a long walk or a hike.”
Volunteering, Daniela says, brings her purpose. “It makes me feel like I’m truly making a difference,” she shared. “It’s what keeps me coming back every week.”
Her advice for anyone thinking about volunteering? “Even sitting and reading a book to a nervous animal can change their life. Watching a dog come out of their shell is one of the most rewarding things you’ll ever witness.”
We’re so grateful to Daniela for her time, talent, and tremendous heart. Thank you for all that you do for the animals—and people—of the SPCA of Texas!
