Sundays at the SPCA of Texas have been a whole lot brighter since Theresa Isenhour—our April Volunteer of the Month—started volunteering with our Foster team.
“She has really helped the Foster department SO much especially on Sundays with training fosters, appointments and with keeping our offices tidy and stocked,” wrote one nominator.
Theresa has had a soft spot for the Foster team since December of 2022. “I was drawn to volunteer with the SPCA of Texas because of the willingness of the Foster team—especially Kasey—to serve as match maker for my first foster after I lost my dog, Blizzard, in December 2022,” she said.
Now, that’s exactly how Theresa spends her Sundays.
“Theresa has been doing a great job and going above and beyond on Sundays,” noted another nominator. “She’s helped send out fosters with us and gone over Policies & Procedures with walk in appointments—Theresa has really been trying to help in any way she can.”
“She goes out of her way to help staff and the animals, always learning new things and offering ideas to improve,” a nominator wrote.
Theresa is dedicated to helping the animals find their fur-ever homes. One pup she is particularly fond of is Patty. “Patty is a brindle mixed breed,” she smiled. “She is a very sweet and huge cuddle bug. Within minutes of meeting a new person, Patty will roll over for belly rubs!”
Sweet Patty is currently in foster care but she’s still looking for a forever home.
Theresa said that volunteering with the SPCA of Texas makes her feel happy, helpful and fulfilled. “I wish others knew how many different opportunities there are available to assist both the staff and the animals at the SPCA of Texas,” she said. “You can interact with the animals or even provide administrative support.”
“Theresa has been going above and beyond to help the Foster team,” her nominator wrote. “She has not only excelled in the tasks we have given her, but grown in her role and taken on new challenges. Theresa is always looking to help in new ways and learn new things.
“She works closely with foster parents and provides great support by chatting with them and answering any questions they have. Theresa started out as a foster, and now she is a trusted volunteer!”
Theresa is proud of the impact she has made with the SPCA of Texas. “I have counseled several different foster families and those animals have since been adopted into their fur-ever homes,” she smiled. “Also, there was an older woman who had recently lost her dog that I counseled during her foster-to-adopt for Molly.”
The SPCA of Texas is grateful to have Theresa Isenhour as a dedicated volunteer who compassionately relates to so many of the people interested in fostering a shelter pet after they’ve lost a best furry friend. Her kindness and courage know no bounds.
