Dr. Amber Alu joined the SPCA of Texas team in 2022 as Chief Medical Officer. Amber has always had an innate love for animals and has been directly involved in rescue work from a young age. Throughout her education, Amber was focused upon pursuing her passion and desire to help more animals as a veterinarian. Amber attended the University of California Davis where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science. She earned her doctorate from Western University of Health Sciences in Los Angeles, California, focusing her education on both Animal Behavior and Shelter Medicine. Amber has worked in both private practice and shelter care, with her most recent work being at a shelter care facility in Houston, Texas. Amber lives with her husband, Adam, and four children. They also had twin daughters who passed shortly after birth and who are in Amber and Adam’s hearts and minds every day. They also have three rescue dogs (Bo, Penelope, and Mandi) in their very busy household.
