This week’s staff spotlight features Erin Lloyd, our Volunteer Talent Recruiter. She recruits volunteers, handles their accounts and scheduling, and gets them started on their journey as SPCA of Texas volunteers! Erin just celebrated her 10th year with the SPCA of Texas – we’re so proud of her!
We asked Erin a few questions about herself so we could all get to know her better:
I love animals (big surprise), but have a lot of other interests. I love reading, anything Disney, spending time with my family in particular my nieces (2 twin girls) & nephews (2 boys), spending time with my friends, & I love playing games of all kinds (video & card games).
I love Little Bit. She’s such a sweet older gal!
Selfishly, I always thought I would work with zoo animals. I believe strongly in conservation and trying to make this world a better place by the time we leave it. Knowing I have made a difference is incredibly rewarding for me, so after college I started working at a zoo in a temporary position in the education department. As the position ended, I had an opportunity to start at the SPCA of Texas. In conservation, you rarely see the rewards of all your hard work. At the SPCA of Texas you receive instant gratification. You get to see animals who are incredibly abused/neglected come in, receive love/treatment from the SPCA of Texas & their staff, and then go to wonderful loving homes. I started working at the SPCA of Texas thinking it would be a temporary position, but it was such an incredibly rewarding experience that I have now been with the organization 10 years. I’m so grateful to be part of this organization and to help fulfill their mission.
Stay tuned for more staff and volunteer spotlights – we’re eager to introduce you to more of the faces that make our organization so special!
