We have a wonderful story to share with you about a special kitty who needed a special home – and traveled across the country to find it!
In June of 2020, Goku, along with 11 other cats, came to the SPCA of Texas from a cruelty case. Goku was blind, and he was completely terrified in the shelter environment. Lifesaving Initiatives Senior Supervisor Sarah Wateska knew Goku would need a unique home in order for him to thrive. After some networking on social media, she found an adopter who already had two blind and deaf cats. The adopter, Sarah O., was a perfect match all around. There was one problem: Sarah O. lived in Maine.
But that didn’t stop Sarah O.! Her heart was set on bringing Goku into her family, so she booked a flight to Dallas. Sarah W. met her at the airport with Goku tucked in his carrier, and off they flew! Goku was apparently a perfect angel on the flight. That was a bit of a surprise, as many cat owners may know, cats aren’t always thrilled with the arrangements in the air.
After a few days, Goku is already settled into his forever home. This cat shied away from touch at the shelter, but he’s already letting his mom and dad snuggle him. Sarah O. has posted some amazing photos and videos on Instagram of her cat Maleficent and Goku already getting chummy. We are so happy that this placement is working out so well!
