Here at the SPCA of Texas, we know that our volunteers play a vital role in making our mission possible. Not only can you volunteer as an individual or at our special events, but we also have opportunities for your company or organization to volunteer as a team!
The SPCA of Texas Group Experience Program has been thoughtfully tailored to provide an enriching experience to your group members by providing the opportunity for your team to give back to the community while learning about the life-saving work that the SPCA of Texas performs daily rescuing animals from cruelty. Not only is it a great team building opportunity, but you are directly impacting the animals in our care as well!
All Group Volunteer Experiences include an in-depth presentation about our organization, behind-the-scenes tour of the facility, volunteer activity, and meet-n-greet with one of our shelter dogs! We also have other options that include a shout-out to your company or organization on our Instagram page, the opportunity to sponsor the care of one of our shelter animals, as well as a tour of our offsite Animal Rescue Center.
Of course! The Group Experience Program is offered at both our Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center in Dallas and our Russell H. Perry Animal Care Center in McKinney.
Unfortunately, we cannot allow our groups to participate in hands-on animal handling during their experience. Both our staff and volunteers are required to go through an extensive animal handling training prior to interacting with the animals in our care. This is to ensure the safety of both our animals as well as staff and volunteers and to make sure that our animals are getting the same level of care across the board. However, your team does get to meet and interact with one of our shelter dogs at the end of the experience as a “thank you” for all of your hard work!
All donations that are made towards our Group Volunteer Experiences assist with the required resources and go right back to helping the animals! As a locally-based nonprofit, we do not receive any city, state, or federal funding, so your support is crucial to our mission of providing every animal with a loving home.
Groups are required to schedule ahead of time to ensure that we can dedicate our time to your team! Please reach out to Ashley Henderson, Volunteer Engagement Specialist, at ahenderson@spca.org and she would be more than happy to share our various opportunities and get your group scheduled!
