Ridge is a sweet, loving boy who is struggling in the shelter environment and urgently needs a calm foster home where he can finally relax and feel safe.
In a recent “Borrow a Buddy” outing to White Rock Lake, Ridge showed just how special he is once he’s out of the kennel stress. He was initially very nervous in the car—needing help getting in and showing panting and whimpering—but we learned he simply feels safest riding on the floor in the backseat.
Once at the lake, everything changed. His tail started wagging as soon as the walk began, and he settled into a beautiful rhythm—staying close, walking politely on leash, and completely ignoring ducks and squirrels. He was most content just being near his person.
Ridge is also incredibly gentle with treats and, despite some lingering anxiety, clearly wants connection and comfort. At one point, he even flopped onto his back in the grass, asking for belly rubs—showing his soft, affectionate side.
This is a dog who is overwhelmed in the shelter but shines when given patience and kindness. He does not need much—just a quiet, understanding foster home where he can decompress and learn that he is safe.
Ridge is urgent. He cannot settle in the shelter environment and needs out as soon as possible, if you can offer him a home even for a short time email us at foster@spca.org.
