Archie is a one-year-old male with a vibrant, energetic personality and a real zest for life. He loves playing with other dogs and thrives on interaction, but his enthusiasm can sometimes come on a bit strong, as he tends to overcorrect during play. Archie is still learning how to manage his excitement and would benefit greatly from guidance and structure.
Recently, Archie has begun showing increasing signs of stress and frustration in the shelter environment. This has presented as mouthy and jumpy behavior, including mouthing staff, grabbing objects like trash bags or hoses, and attempting to push through doors. These behaviors are not a reflection of a “bad” dog, but rather a young, overstimulated dog who urgently needs an outlet and a calmer environment to decompress.
Archie is asking for help in the only ways he knows how right now. With time out of the shelter—even just a short foster break—he has the potential to reset, relax, and show his true, affectionate nature. In the right home, with patience, consistency, and opportunities for exercise and mental stimulation, Archie can absolutely thrive.
If you can offer Archie a break from the shelter, please email Foster@spca.org!
