Little Dwight is a sensitive soul who’s having a very hard time coping with the shelter. He wants to trust—when you first walk up, he lies quietly on his bed with his ears perked and soft, searching eyes—but the moment pressure is added, his fear takes over. He retreats to the corner with his tail tucked, body tense, showing the whites of his eyes and unable to take treats. Dwight stays in his crate during greetings, gently sniffing the air and watching his people with curiosity, as if he wants to come forward but just can’t yet. In the yard he keeps his distance, and when he feels overwhelmed he may snap and back away, choosing avoidance over connection.
Dwight isn’t “difficult”—he’s scared. This little guy needs a calm, patient foster home where he can decompress and learn the world is safe again. With slow introductions, trust-building, and a peaceful environment, we believe the real Dwight—the one behind those soft, hopeful eyes—will shine. He deserves a chance to feel secure, to breathe, and to show the sweet dog he truly is. A foster could completely change his story.
