How Fostering Has Changed My Life

Recently, we asked our fosters how fostering has changed their life – here is what they had to say!

“Fostering has taught me that patience, attention to a dog’s body language and love can overcome anything.”

“I’ve only fostered a couple of times but for me it’s witnessing the positive impact that the foster pet has on my pets. I feel like both parties get pushed out of their comfort zones and are better for it, it’s incredibly rewarding. Fostering is an opportunity for growth and for learning, can’t recommend it enough.”

“It’s helped me realize that if everyone does a part, no matter how big or small, we can make a difference.”

“Countless ways! It’s increased the patience and grace I give to all animals AND humans, forcing me to remember that most have a pretty terrible story and are just trying to survive. It’s increased my passion and purpose for advocating for those less fortunate. It’s increased my confidence in addressing animal welfare with friends, coworkers, family, and strangers, being able to share personal accounts of the benefits I’ve seen the SPCA of Texas and other animal shelters/groups provide, despite the negative stereotypes that are often recited. It’s connected me to this larger group of fosters and volunteers that I feel truly bonded with, despite having not met all of you.
