Each week, we feature a long-term resident who has been searching for their forever family for quite some time. This week, we want to tell you about Nala!
Nala, along with three other dogs, was surrendered to the SPCA of Texas’ Animal Cruelty Investigations Unit after being found with no food, water or shelter. Due to her past neglect, Nala had a hard time trusting people. Thankfully, she has spent most of her time with us in foster homes where she could grow more comfortable living the kind of life she always deserved.
Now, Nala is back at our Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center hoping to find a permanent home. She’s still a little shy around people, but anyone who gives her the time to warm up will soon win her heart.
Nala is notorious for being the most spoiled princess when it comes to comfort. Her absolute favorite thing in the world is a comfy bed, so she spends most of her day lounging on an orthopedic bed with lots of soft blankies and stuffed animals to keep her company. While she is still overcoming some of her fearfulness, Nala is overall a relaxed and low-maintenance dog. Even at 3 years old, she acts like an old lady already!
This sweet pitbull terrier mix adores other dogs, especially her sister Nani, who was rescued with her back in January of 2019. Nala and Nani are similar in a lot of ways, and while they aren’t pair bonded, they both would love to go to a quiet home where lots of snuggling and TV-watching happens.
Nala would love to go to a home with a friendly pup about her size who loves cuddling as much as she does. She’d also prefer a fenced-in yard so she can do her business without leaving the comfort of her domain.
If you are interested in adopting Nala, you can actually take her on a test drive! She is eligible for a trial adoption, meaning we provide you with everything Nala needs for a few weeks until she’s settled into your home. If it doesn’t work out, that’s totally ok – Nala will be happy to get a break from the shelter environment. Email foster@spca.org if you’d like to learn more about adopting Nala!
