This week we want to give you a closer look at Deanjelo, courtesy of our friends at ReadingGlasses.com! Clearly, this long-term resident hasn’t found their forever home yet because the right person just hasn’t laid eyes on them yet!
Age is just a number, and Deanjelo is out to prove it! Rescued in June from a cruel confinement case, this 14-year-old Italian Greyhound mix was confined to a crate all day and night. Our veterinarians originally designated him as a fospice animal, a pet that the SPCA of Texas would permanently have custody of and provide end-of-life care for, while a foster family kept him comfortable for his final months. To their surprise, Deanjelo’s health has vastly improved in the past few months in his foster home – so much so, that he is now officially available for adoption. We couldn’t be more thrilled to be proven wrong.
As a result of his years of neglect, Deanjelo has developed a goofy walk and an even sillier run! He’ll go from prancing, to sprinting, to a sudden stop – he’s still trying to figure out the whole “going on a walk” business. Deanjelo’s foster parents report that they have never heard him bark and he is very respectful of the furniture. So far he has learned how to sit, and is both crate trained and house trained. He sleeps like a rock…that is, until he hears the can opener! Deanjelo is a very big fan of food and will gladly assist you with taste testing the crumbs that drop while you’re cooking.
