This week we want to give you a closer look at Dominic, courtesy of our friends at ReadingGlasses.com! Clearly, this long-term resident hasn’t found their forever home yet because the right person just hasn’t laid eyes on them yet!
Keep reading for more details about this wonderful cat!
Dominic is a shy, but sweet, 2 & ½-year old buff tabby looking for a home to call his own. He first came to us in January of 2020, rescued by the SPCA of Texas’ Animal Cruelty Investigations Unit from a hoarding situation. He plays coy, but truly craves attention from his human friends. In his foster home, Dominic needed some time to grow brave enough to seek out human interaction, but once he did, he realized he was a huge fan of cheek scratches. It took a few weeks, but eventually Dom’s foster mom was able to pick him up and cuddle him.
Dominic is looking for a cat-savvy adopter who will let him warm up to them on his own terms. He’ll take some time to blossom into the friendly kitty he wants to be, but once he does, it will be so worth the wait! Dominic ended up following his foster mom everywhere she went in the house and purred like an engine when she was sitting next to him. His dream home will be quiet and have lots of high shelves or a cat tree where he can perch and watch the action. He is happy to have a home full of laid back fur friends – he loved his kitty foster siblings, and enjoyed curling up next to his Great Dane and Pitbull foster siblings and snuggling up against their warm fur.
While he is generally fairly chill, Dominic does enjoy playing from time to time, especially with a laser pointer.
“It has been very rewarding to earn his trust to the point that now he not only feels comfortable around me, but also gets excited when I come in the room….Once I earned his trust, he looks forward to every time he sees me and comes out without coaxing or giving him any attention.” – Dominic’s foster mom
Dominic’s adoption fee is currently $30 as part of the Companion Cat special! Adopt him to be a companion for your current cat, or adopt both Dominic and a friend of his for one price! Promotion ends July 31st.
