Bertram was especially difficult because he's such a good loving boy. While he is shy at first, he was warming up by the time we got to our house. He is great with kids and other dogs. One resident dog wanted nothing to do with him, and he left her alone. The other house dog would sometimes play with him, and Bertram knew to be gentle with her as she's much smaller.If you want him to melt into you, rub the base of his ears-he'll fall asleep standing. He also thinks he's a lap dog and likes to be held-yes. He also loved his pup cup after all of the excitement. He did very well on his first outing!""Douglas spent some time at a coffee shop and enjoyed being outdoors. He was very comfortable and decided to roll around on the ground. All he wanted were some belly rubs, it was super cute! Douglas is also motivated by treats. He sits when asked, waits patiently, takes treats very gently and even gave his paw. He was completely focused. He walked, sniffed all the good stuff. Not everything, just those things that must have been special. I say that because he didn't sniff every blade of grass. It was nice to be able to stroll. He noticed humans and dogs but was for the most part oblivious. He walked well on the leash. He was aware of me and my location at all times. He paid attention to leash clues and followed simple commands that I wouldn't expect him to know necessarily. "This way", "stop" (before crossing the street) and he stayed still while I untied him before exiting the car. They call him a senior but he is far from showing an resemblance to a senior. He completely walked me under the table. I kept up but I was ready to quit before he showed any sign of needing a break.
