The adoption team had given me a heads up that she was a little fearful of new environments but she went to every new place and was so brave. We ventured over to Cedar Ridge Preserve where there was a couple times she wanted to get away from loud noises or people, but with reassurance she was able to walk the trails and crowded places. It seemed the more confident and nonchalant you were about the situation, the more she trusted that we could move past scary obstacles with no issue. She also loved being pet and is so soft and fluffy. Then we moved on to a coffeeshop where she entered the public space with no issue. She was watchful, but calm. Sabine enjoyed her whip cream pup cup VERY much and happily took any treat I offered her. Lastly we went to a small market where she was very respectful of the indoor space and did not pull on her leash or knock anything over. There was a dog in a crate at the market that she seemed to want to meet but did not react aggressively or intensely towards. Overall Sabine was a very sweet buddy who will make the best, loyal friend! Oh, Sabine, I would keep her if I could. She spent most of the time sunbathing in my backyard and trying new treats. She even learned "Sit" in one day! She loveeeed her peanut butter filled kong and was content to play with that for quite some time. We went on a few long neighborhood walks where she walked beautifully on her leash, she is very good at following where you want to go. She gets surprised and a little anxious of people coming up behind us, especially if they are running. She seemed happiest just being in the backyard with you, and would always wag her tail when you came towards her. We backyard camped for a little of the night and she curled right up next to me and was the greatest snuggle buddy. We went inside because it was too loud, and she did awesome inside too. We weren't planning on introducing our cats, but one ran outside and Sabine didn't blink an eye. Later when the cat was out in the yard, Sabine approached us and seemed to want to sniff the cat when in close proximity but after I told her to leave him she did not continue. Of course a more formal introduction would be better but she appears to be cat friendly! The only thing I'd say to be careful of is that she seems to feel uncomfortable in the car and will try to end up in the driver's seat with you, so she needs some kind of barrier, crate, or second person to hold her. He made a mental note of people and other dogs, but made no serious attempt at meeting any of them. He was unsure of getting into the car at the shelter, but jumped right in on the second request. He was obedient in what I asked of him, i.e., I requested he "stay" while I was tying him to the car for stability. No jumping around or making it difficult in any way. He is very smart and will learn fast. Also, he is a beautiful grayish/silver with amazing eyes. Happy tails Dually. This 1-1.5-year-old Weimaraner mix was an absolute joy to have with us for the weekend.She rode great in the car-though she wasn't too thrilled that our resident pup always got the coveted shotgun seat . She's an awesome travel buddy overall!We went on plenty of walks, and she did really well on leash. She pulls a bit here and there, but just a few "crazy-walk" sessions will help polish that up. For the most part, she walked beautifully-unless we passed one of those blow-up holiday lawn decorations... those are clearly the worst in her book .Lazuli takes treats gently, greets people and dogs with appropriate enthusiasm (minimal jumping, no chaos!), and has the perfect energy balance-she's playful and active, but not over the top. A quick 20-minute play session of tug or fetch in the morning and evening was enough to keep her calm and content throughout the day.She and our own pup (similar in age, size, and energy level) had a blast playing together, and when she wasn't romping around, she loved curling up for cuddles. She's still a puppy, so she can be a little mouthy now and then, but she redirects super easily to a toy or chew.During her stay, she had zero accidents, zero destroyed shoes, and only chewed on dog-approved items. She's very food-motivated, which makes her a great candidate for future training. We worked on "off" and "sit," and she was already picking them up!All in all, Lazuli is a sweet, smart, and loving girl who will make an amazing companion for a family looking to add a precious fur-baby to their life. He was a great hiking buddy, once he figured out the speed you wanted to go he settled into a nice step with you. He was a little wary of other strangers on the path, but was mostly just avoidant and wanted some space from them, no reactivity. He rested patiently during water breaks and crossed obstacles like bridges with no problems. I let him jump in a little pond at the end of the hike against the better judgement of my clean car, but he loved being in the water so much! Then we hopped in the car to visit a coffee shop. He is awesome in the car, looks around for a little and then settles down to lay, no whining, barking or growling, and stays in the back seat. He was good inside the coffee shop, seemed a little nervous to be in there but didn't do much about it. We went on the patio and he LOVED his whip cream pup cup. He settled down to lay and let me read my book for quite some time, not paying much attention to noisy cars or pedestrians that passed by. His personality really started to peek out after just a few hours together! His tail came up and he played a small game of chase with me in the city square.
