We were proud to work with the Austin Street Center and the OurCalling‘s warming center in Fair Park before and during the inclement weather this week to supply them with 30+ kennels, 2 Shoreline cages, bedding, 200+ pounds of food, bowls, leashes, collars, and toys. A huge thank you to these critically needed groups as they cared for people and their beloved pets, keeping them together!

We are thankful to the hardworking staff who stayed overnight at our Dallas Animal Care Center and the Russell E. Dealey Animal Rescue Center on Sunday and Monday to ensure that the animals in our care would be well taken care of and loved on despite the bad weather! The animals enjoyed the sleep-over with their best human pals. We even had a litter of older puppies and a momma with five nursing puppies join us, transferred from Dallas Animal Services and Adoption Center.

We are thankful to our dedicated Ellis County Animal Care Center staff for moving all the animals from that shelter to our other locations on Sunday when the location repeatedly lost power. This all happened well ahead of the ice, and staff stayed at the ready each day to take in any animals in need, working with the Ellis County Animal Control Officers, and move them to our shelters that maintained power.

And, a heartfelt thank you to our Animal Cruelty Investigations unit and the Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office for braving the cold late Tuesday night to bring in a group of dogs who were suffering thanks to the timely report from a concerned citizen.
