Patches is a 4-year-old male dog who came to us as part of a case, and from the moment he arrived it was clear he’s had a very difficult start. He was noted to have conjunctivitis with discharge and a sunken globe, suspected to be secondary to prior head trauma. He is currently receiving treatment, and while his eye is healing slowly, we are encouraged that he is responding to his medications.
Unfortunately, shelter life has been extremely hard on Patches. The stress of the environment has become overwhelming for him, and we’ve begun to see signs of distress including repetitive barking and spinning behaviors in his kennel. He is currently unable to participate in playgroup due to medical restrictions, and we are also seeing weight loss despite our best efforts to support him.
Patches is a big, active boy at heart who needs more than the shelter can provide right now. What he truly needs is a calm, stable foster home where he can decompress, feel safe again, and start to remember that the world isn’t always so overwhelming. With patience, structure, and kindness, we believe Patches can continue to heal—both physically and emotionally.
Patches is urgently in need of a foster to give him the chance he deserves to rest, recover, and simply be a dog again.
