Hallie is a 3-year-old female dog who transferred to us from a partner shelter and has been in our care since February 7, 2026. She has recently completed heartworm treatment and is healing well, but she still needs a calm, low-activity environment to fully recover. Unfortunately, the shelter setting has made it difficult for her to stay relaxed while on exercise restrictions, and she has become increasingly pent-up. When out on leash, Hallie can display jumpy, mouthy behavior with staff, which appears to be driven by excess energy and frustration rather than intent to harm.
With other dogs, Hallie has shown generally appropriate and social behavior. She is tolerant of dogs approaching her to greet, will initiate greetings on her own, maintains a loose body, and has engaged in play with several dogs. She is also capable of giving appropriate corrections when needed. However, as her frustration has built over time in the shelter environment, she has begun to show some hyper-fixation on passing cars, indicating rising stress levels.
Hallie would greatly benefit from a foster home where she can decompress, continue her recovery in a structured setting, and begin working on calm behaviors. A Foster home will help her settle, reduce her stress, and set her up for long-term success!
