Fairy is a 1-year-old female who came to us through one of our transfer partners and is now in urgent need of a foster placement. The shelter environment has been extremely stressful for her, and that stress is beginning to impact how she responds during handling. While walking or during leashing, Fairy has started to jump up and nip at arms and hands. This behavior appears to stem from frustration, overstimulation, and the high-stress kennel environment rather than true aggression, but it is a sign that she is struggling and needs relief from the shelter setting.
In playgroup, Fairy shows a much softer and more thoughtful side of her personality. She has been tolerant of other dogs and prefers to explore the yard at her own pace. While she can be a bit insecure when first entering the space, she tends to warm up over time and becomes more comfortable around the other dogs. She may initially seem a bit unsure, but once she has time to observe and settle in, she begins to relax and engage more naturally.
Fairy would greatly benefit from a calm foster home where she can decompress away from the noise and pressure of the shelter. With patience, structure, and gentle guidance, she has the potential to build confidence and show much more of the sweet, curious dog she is when she feels safe. A quieter environment could make a huge difference in helping Fairy reset and thrive.
