Buck is a 2-year-old male dog who urgently needs a foster placement to help him decompress outside of the shelter environment. He came into the shelter as a stray on January 12 of this year, and while he has shown that he can be a fun, playful dog, the stress of kennel life is beginning to take a toll on him. Buck spends much of his time barking in his kennel and becoming increasingly frustrated, which is a common sign of kennel stress in otherwise good dogs who simply need a calmer environment. In the yard, Buck is able to respond to appropriate corrections and can settle into play, showing that he has the potential to do well when given space and guidance. However, the prolonged stress of the shelter has started to affect how he behaves in playgroup. What was once positive interaction has recently become more difficult for him as his frustration builds, which is why he is now considered urgent for foster placement. Buck would greatly benefit from a foster home where he can relax, decompress, and return to being the dog he was before the stress of the kennel began to impact him. With patience, structure, and a quieter environment, Buck has a strong chance of thriving again and showing the playful, responsive companion he truly is. A foster home could make all the difference for him right now.
