Holiday partnership aims to help almost 300 animals find foster homes between Dec. 22 and Dec. 28, 2025
DALLAS — Seven North Texas animal welfare organizations are united for Silent Night—a foster campaign to help shelter pets celebrate the holiday season in loving homes. Pioneered by Dallas Animal Services more than five years ago, this is the first year the campaign has expanded to a collaboration between multiple organizations.
Running from Monday, Dec. 22 through Sunday, Dec. 28, 2025, the campaign aims to help 270 pets find foster homes, with the SPCA of Texas seeking foster placements for 50 of its cats and dogs who can be picked up at the Dallas Animal Care Center (2400 Lone Star Dr, 75212) Monday and Tuesday, December 22nd and 23rd. Drop off for the fostered pets can be Friday, Saturday or Sunday—December 26th through 28th.
The holiday season is about spending time as a family, and fostering a shelter pet is a great way to build that bond while helping an animal who still is searching for a family to call their own. With children on holiday break and families spending more time at home, right now is the perfect chance to welcome a foster pet into your home.
“Silent Night brings shelters and animal welfare organizations together to give pets a much-needed break from the shelter during the holiday week,” said SPCA of Texas Senior Manager of Lifesaving Programs Terri Hooks. “Even a short stay in a home can greatly reduce stress and help animals thrive.
“Fostering with the SPCA of Texas is simple and fully supported—we provide supplies, medical and behavioral care, and guidance every step of the way. All you need to provide is a safe place and an open heart.”
Fostering a cat or dog helps him or her become socialized, provides time away from the shelter, and lets future adopters learn more about the pet’s personality. Not only do families—no matter the size—get to spend time with a new furry friend, but by signing up to foster, you are helping to make room in shelters for more pets needing aid.
Participating shelters include: Carrollton Animal Control Services; Dallas Animal Services; Fort Worth Animal Care and Control; Glen Rose Animal Control; Humane Society of Dallas County; Operation Kindness Humane Society; and SPCA of Texas.
Fostering a pet from any of the participating shelters is completely free, and no experience is required. The SPCA of Texas provides fosters with pet food, leash & collar, bowls, toys—anything a family or individual needs to enjoy time with the pet. Each organization’s foster team will work with you to help match a pet that best fits your lifestyle and will provide ongoing support throughout your foster experience.
