In January of 2019, the SPCA of Texas’ Animal Cruelty Investigations Unit rescued four dogs that had no access to food, water, or shelter. Nala was a part of this little group, and she had no idea the adventure she would soon be undertaking. The road to recovery would be a long one, as her past had made her a fearful dog who was afraid of her own shadow.
It would take 512 days, four foster homes, and one trial adoption before Nala found her forever home. In our opinion- the wait was well worth it! It was evident from day one of her trial adoption that she had found where she was meant to be.
After only one day, Nala found herself tentatively exploring her home and showing curiosity about her family. Thanks to her previous foster homes, Nala now had an idea of what a new home would mean – safety, love and comfort.
Her new family, the Groves, were also perfectly content to take things slow and let Nala set the pace. Soon, she started coming when called, sitting on the couch with her family, and really enjoyed being with her new brother T.C.! In no time, she became comfortable enough to show off her silly side. In her new home, Nala parties so hard she’s even done a somersault!
After 512 days as Nala the SPCA of Texas long-term resident, she became Della Magnolia Groves, beloved family dog.
Thank you to the foster families that took her in, the volunteers and staff who worked with her, and to the family who will now love her for the rest of her days.
Happy Tails, Nala!
