SPCA of Texas joins 380+ shelters nationwide participating in the “Empty the Shelters — Holiday Hope” event
(DALLAS, TX); December 4, 2023 – BISSELL Pet Foundation, a national animal welfare organization dedicated to ending pet homelessness, is bringing hope to shelter pets across the country this holiday season with its “Empty the Shelters – Holiday Hope” adoption event through Saturday, Dec. 23, 2023. During each nationwide event, BISSELL Pet Foundation sponsors reduced adoption fees of $50 or less per cat or dog during each nationwide adoption event. This event will be hosted in more than 380 shelters in 43 states, including the SPCA of Texas.
The SPCA of Texas is offering $25 adoptions on all adult dogs and adult cats at the Dallas Animal Care Center (2400 Lone Star Drive) and the Ellis County Animal Care Center (2570 FM Road 878, Waxahachie, 75168) through December 23rd, for the Empty the Shelters — Holiday Hope event. To learn more about adoptions at the SPCA of Texas, please visit www.spca.org/adopt. To browse adoptable pets at the SPCA of Texas, please visit www.spca.org/findapet.
As always, adoption fees for seniors adopting senior pets—age seven and older—will be waived. All pets adopted from the SPCA of Texas, have been neutered or spayed, microchipped and are up to date on all necessary vaccinations.
“Our nation’s animal shelters need your help as they face an overcrowding crisis unlike anything we have experienced in more than a decade. The devastating increase in owner surrenders and stray intakes has left tens of thousands of deserving pets desperate to find a home,” said Cathy Bissell, Founder of BISSELL Pet Foundation. “Our ‘Empty the Shelters – Holiday Hope’ event is the perfect opportunity to make a difference in your community by saving a life and creating space to give another homeless pet a chance this holiday season.”
The “Empty the Shelters” event began in 2016 as an effort to encourage more families to adopt a pet into their home. More than 70,000 pets have found adoptive homes through this reduced-fee adoption event. Since its inception, BISSELL Pet Foundation has expanded its “Empty the Shelters” reach to organizations in 45 states and Canada, partnering with a total of 443 animal welfare organizations.
“Partnering with BISSELL Pet Foundation is a wonderful way for us to find even more homes for animals in need, making their wishes of homes for the holidays come true,” said SPCA of Texas Director of Lifesaving Initiatives Kelli Eaves, CAWA. “It is especially important during a time of severe shelter capacity concerns that people remember that by adopting a pet from the SPCA of Texas, you’re not only saving their life, but also the life of the pet that takes their place at the shelter.”
BISSELL Pet Foundation’s “Empty the Shelters” event is the largest funded adoption event in the country. This lifesaving event began in 2016 with a goal of encouraging more families to choose adoption. More than 204,000 pets have found loving homes since its inception.
Pet adoption is a lifetime commitment, and not just for the holidays. BISSELL Pet Foundation and SPCA of Texas urge families to research the pet they are interested in adopting, as well as adoption requirements.
