A Bi-Paw-tisan Win for the Animals!
Today is a historic day for shelter animals everywhere! Adopted from the Delaware Humane Association in 2018, Major is the first rescue dog to occupy the White House. With so many pets waiting for homes in shelters across the United States of America, we hope that Major and his brother Champ will serve as inspiration to those hoping to add a furry friend to their family. This past weekend, the first-ever “In-paw-guration” celebration helped raise more than $200k for the Delaware Humane Association. We are so thrilled that Major is putting a spotlight on animal welfare organizations everywhere!
Adopting is a bi-paw-tisan passion. In 2016, former President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush brought attention to animal adoption in a huge way! We were incredibly honored when the Bush family adopted a puppy who was rescued and fostered through the SPCA of Texas. Freddy Bush is a source of pride for the SPCA of Texas and we can’t help but feel his adoption inspired other Texans, and Americans everywhere, to make shelter adoption their first choice.
Thousands of animals right here in the great state of Texas are waiting to be a part of your family. If you are ready to add a furry friend to your life, we encourage everyone to adopt from your local shelter! We have over a hundred cats, dogs, horses, donkeys, pigs, bunnies, and more available for adoption right now. To see all of our adoptable pets, please visit spca.org/adopt.
Oh, and did you know? The Bidens fostered Major before adopting him! Fostering with the SPCA of Texas is not only incredibly rewarding, but is also completely free – we’ll provide you with food, toys and all the supplies your foster pet needs.
