(DALLAS, TX; WAXAHACHIE, TX); February 17, 2022 – The SPCA of Texas has received a $75,000 grant from PetSmart Charities to help prepare more homeless pets in North Texas for adoption. Some five million pets make their way into shelters each year in the U.S. With the help of this grant, the SPCA of Texas will offer all of the medical care needed for its animals to support its efforts to help homeless pets find homes.
The SPCA of Texas was able to find a home for a dog named Stella, who came into the organization emaciated and in need of extensive medical care. After helping Stella to gain weight and recover from her ailments, she was able to find a loving family. This grant will help the SPCA of Texas continue to care for and find homes for animals like Stella.
“With this grant, we will be able to provide all of our pets with the necessary care they need before finding them new homes. By spaying and neutering all of our animals, we can prevent pet overpopulation in the community,” said Kelli Eaves, Director of Lifesaving Initiative for the SPCA of Texas, “The funds from this grant will allow us to ensure that we are providing our pets with outstanding care and treatments before finding them loving homes.”
“Welcoming a pet into your heart and home is a big decision,” said Heidi Fulcher, Adoption Grants Manager at PetSmart Charities. “We want to make certain adoptable animals receive the preventative care they need before making this important transition. It’s our pleasure to continue to support the SPCA of Texas they make the process as seamless as possible.”
