Although people most often associate the SPCA of Texas with dogs and cats, we offer other animals for adoption such as horses, pigs, sheep, birds, donkeys, ponies, ducks, ferrets, rabbits and mice. All of these adoptable animals can be seen online.

Livestock animals require a separate adoption application (this process is different from adopting a dog, cat or small mammal). You may complete this application in advance on our Livestock and Other Animals page.

The majority of our horses and livestock are rescued by our Animal Cruelty Investigations Unit, and our amazing staff and volunteers then work to rehabilitate them and find them new and loving homes. Rehabilitation can sometimes take months or years.

You are welcome to visit our McKinney facility to see what animals are available for adoption. Prior to adoption, you must fill out the livestock adoption application.

It is not necessary to have already picked out a livestock animal to adopt to begin the process. Once your application is received you will be contacted by an SPCA of Texas staff member to inform you if you qualified for an adoption.

It is important that you complete the application even if we don't have the animal you are looking for. By completing the application, your adoption process can already be started and we can contact you to let you know that we have an animal that you are interested in.

SPCA of Texas Voices

"I'm absolutely in LOVE with Kitty (formerly Kaleigh). I know her name isn't original at all but I just started calling her that until I could think of a name and it just stuck - it's so her! I've attached two photos - she's seriously the most beautiful kitty in the world! She loves to steal tennis balls and bones from her dog sister - she thinks she's a dog! She enjoys going for walks and car rides, snuggling with mom, bird watching, drinking from the sink, playing with her pipe cleaners and getting into mom's makeup in the mornings. I couldn't 'imagine life without her. She's the absolute best!"
