Mickey is a 3-year-old White Shepherd who urgently needs to leave the shelter and find a quiet, understanding home. Shelter life has been especially hard on her, and her sensitive nature makes the constant noise and activity overwhelming. She is shy with new people at first and may seem unsure, but if someone stays calm and neutral, she will approach and investigate on her own. With people she becomes familiar with, Mickey is affectionate and will seek out connection. Mickey can be startled by loud noises, fast movements, and new situations, particularly while on leash. She is currently working on building her confidence through simple, positive exercises such as “Check it out” and “Go find it,” and she is showing that she wants to learn and feel braver. What she truly needs is time to decompress in a home environment where she can settle, feel safe, and slowly build trust at her own pace. With patience and consistency, Mickey will warm up and show her loyal, gentle personality. She is not a dog that thrives in a shelter setting, but in the right home with someone willing to go slow, she has the potential to blossom into a devoted companion. Mickey needs out of the shelter as soon as possible so she can finally have the chance she deserves.
