If any dogs test positive for Canine Distemper Virus (CDV) at the shelter, we are immediately isolating them at our medical teams counsel and attempting to get them into a foster home. Since distemper positive dogs can shed the virus to other dogs for up to 3 months, they need to be isolated for that entire period or they pose a risk to other dogs at the shelter.

Meet Mr. Popo! This sweet, chunky kitty is a bit skittish, but once he hears you open a can of tuna he forgets he’s supposed to be shy! Mr. Popo is a huge food enthusiast (as the scale likes to remind him) and we’d love for him to find a home where he’ll be properly spoiled. Of course, not too spoiled – he could benefit from losing a pound or two!
Mr. Popo loves to eat but he also gets his exercise in – chasing laser dots and swatting at wand toys helps this big boy engage with humans even when he’s still a little nervous. Mr. Popo is looking for a quiet home with kids 12 and up and where he can be the only kitty. He might be FeLV positive, but the test results were inconclusive. To be on the safe side he should be the only cat in the home.
