Today’s Foster Friday feature is Dusty, who is looking for a very special family to take care of him.
This sweet, 5-year-old American Pit Bull Terrier mix is a sweet, quiet dog looking for a fospice home. Dusty is deaf, but furthermore he is suffering from an aggressive form of cancer that will likely result in his passing within the year.
The good news is that the SPCA of Texas will pay for Dusty’s medical care for life. We want Dusty to live out the rest of his days in the comfort of a loving home with a family who will cherish him. As Dusty was found as a stray, we don’t know a lot about his past, but we do have hope that his remaining days will be full of happiness and comfort. We will provide everything you need to care for Dusty – supplies, food, and medical and behavioral care.
Dusty doesn’t prefer his legs or paws touched, so he’ll need a home with kids five (5) and older who will understand to avoid petting Dusty in those areas. He’d love to meet the kids in his prospective home first to see if they are a good match for him.
As you can tell from his round figure, Dusty is a bit overweight, so he’s currently on a special diet to get his weight down, which we will provide. He isn’t on any medications currently, but his foster family will need to monitor his previous mass removal sites for regrowth of tumors and any new tumors that occur.
Dusty isn’t picky about where he lives, but a home with a fenced-in yard or first-floor apartment would be great. He wouldn’t mind canine siblings, he would just like to meet them first to see if they’re a good fit.
