Volunteer and make every day special for the animals in our shelters. Give your time and heart based on your schedule and interests.
As one year ends and another begins, the SPCA of Texas’ thoughts turn to the incredible individuals and organizations that make the work we do possible. Every level of gift matters and, together, can move mountains. Whether you made a major gift or gathered towels and other needed supplies, your support is vital to our work.
We are grateful for every one of you, our friends and supporters. Thank you for being our friend.
The past year has brought challenges and we have also achieved significant milestones. From opening our Sensory Garden to provide shelter dogs different ways to express natural behaviors; to continuing with dog play groups in our play yards to stimulate their minds and bodies; to hosting a Kitten Shower to educate and recruit volunteers to help with our tiniest feline residents; to inviting more people to become volunteers, fosters, or even borrow-a-buddy friends…all of this is possible because of your support!
We continued providing the community with Drive-Thru Pet Pantry events each month and even opened up weekly opportunities for people to come receive much-needed food for their pets. The continued economic uncertainty has caused a lot of hardship on a wide swath of pet owners. And we believe that pets in loving and responsible homes should not fall victim to economic hardships and are dedicated to do all we can to keep them there. Again, because of you!
Through in-kind donations of food and much-needed supplies, free or low-cost vaccinations, and low-cost spay/neuter services we can make a big difference for the pet population. And once again, you make that possible.
Everything we do, all of the pets and people we serve, comes from your generosity. We do our best to remember this as we go about our tasks each and every day.
We have also put a new emphasis on our Group Experiences. Through this program, an office or organization can come in and be a part of our shelter operation. It is a great team-building opportunity, and a chance to get real insight on the operations of the SPCA of Texas. There are a range of group opportunities available, and a listing of them is available in the volunteer section of our website.
Of course, our core mission of rescuing animals, bringing them back to health, and rehoming them to loving families remains our primary focus. Our Animal Cruelty Investigations Unit and medical and animal care teams remain vigilant and busy. We have had many “Happy Tails” to share with our staff and supporters over the past year, and we look forward to many more to come. We are very thankful to be able to do this work, and we know who really makes it all possible.
For every contribution, we offer a sincere round of “Thanks!”–and happy tail wags and whisker twitches, too–from all of us.
All the doggone news? Cute cat pictures? Ways you can get involved? You bet.
