Funds received will address shelter overcrowding and will be used to prepare cats, kittens and large dogs for adoption
DALLAS – Feb. 2, 2023 – SPCA of Texas has received a $75K grant from PetSmart Charities to help prepare more homeless pets in North Texas for adoption. Some five million pets make their way into shelters each year in the U.S. With the help of this grant, the organization will prepare kittens born on the streets, as well as adult cats and kittens coming from owner surrender, stray, and animal cruelty for adoption in PetSmart stores to find loving homes. Funds also will be used to prepare large breed puppies and adult dogs for PetSmart adoptions.
“SPCA of Texas is dedicated to providing every animal exceptional care and a loving home and our adoption program is integral to achieving this mission,” said SPCA of Texas CEO & President Karen Froehlich, CAWA. “This generous funding from PetSmart Charities will allow our veterinary team to provide top-of-the-line care, including spay/neuter surgery, microchipping, deworming and vaccinations to these beautiful animals who need our help so badly.
“Not only do we expect our adoptions at PetSmart partner stores to increase, but the monies will help SPCA of Texas ensure continued consistent mobile adoption events throughout North Texas,” Froehlich added.
“We are so grateful for partners like the SPCA of Texas that help hundreds of animals find loving homes through our in-store adoption program,” said Heidi Marston, director of Pet Placement Initiatives at from PetSmart Charities. “We must continue to support communities and shelters across the country as they navigate daily challenges like full facilities, limited access to vet care and supporting families in need. The impact SPCA is certain to make is an example of what can happen when we all work together.”
Pets are available for adoption at SPCA of Texas’ Dallas Animal Care Center located at 2400 Lone Star Drive, Dallas, 75212.
