The SPCA of Texas maintains an Animal Cruelty Investigations (ACI) Unit with three full-time humane investigators, one chief investigator, one case manager and one dedicated veterinarian. The humane investigators respond to more than 3,000 cases of cruelty each year in Texas. Because our work focuses on education and support services, our ACI team strives to help pet owners provide a higher level of care for their pets. Through a case management system and wraparound services inclusive of vet care and connection to human services, our ACI team is able to achieve happier, healthier lives for pets in most cases without prosecution. The SPCA of Texas is prepared to respond and deploy to support animals in need during disasters. Our Animal Crisis Response Team, consisting of staff and volunteers, is trained and ready to support disaster response locally and for regional and national deployments.

Each year, we help thousands of animals connect with loving forever homes through our two shelters, including one in Dallas and one in Ellis County, and at off-site locations for cats. In addition to our facility-based adoptions, we also offer mobile adoption events throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Because the majority of animals come to the shelter from traumatic situations, we have a robust foster program. Thanks to the TLC provided by hundreds of foster hero volunteers, these animals recover, heal and improve their people skills, preparing them to be loving, adoptable pets.

Unsocialized cats may not be ideal pets, but they make greater partners for keeping rodents and pests away. Through the SPCA of Texas, you can adopt a working cat at no charge in return for providing them adequate shelter and food. Supplies are provided. Your working cat will keep the mice away, and you will have the satisfaction of knowing you’ve giving an animal a safe home.

Through no fault of their own, scores of horses and farm animals have been rescued by the SPCA of Texas from a life of abuse and neglect. We are their safe haven and place of refuge, where they get the proper nutrition and veterinary care they so richly deserve, until they find a new place to call home. Learn more

The SPCA of Texas Spay/Neuter & Wellness Clinics focus on delivering affordable and accessible veterinary services, with a special focus on serving pet owners who otherwise may not be able to provide high-quality care for their pets. We have two clinics in Dallas, plus online pharmacy services.

The SPCA of Texas’ Mobile Community Wellness program offers various services at our Community Wellness Events, including low-cost vaccines, microchips and/or flea prevention.

Spaying and neutering your pets can help them lead longer and healthier lives. The SPCA of Texas offers low-cost, high-quality spay/neuter services so that all pet owners can afford this vital procedure.

Spaying and neutering the cats living in your community is the most humane and effective way to control the population of free roaming cats and prevent kittens from being born outdoors. Through Trap, Neuter & Return, volunteers help save the lives of hundreds of cats each year.
