There are thousands of cat toys available in pet stores across the world, but many cat owners know the frustration of spending money on a toy only to find that their cat is totally uninterested. That’s why crafty cat owners skip the store and make their own toys!
Just like toddlers, cats have wild imaginations. Something as simple as a paper bag or cardboard box can amuse them for hours! You don’t have to spend any money to make your cats happy. The crinkling sound of paper bags and the texture of cardboard boxes will give them plenty of entertainment.
If you love wine, save those corks! Cats love to practice their hunting skills by batting corks around the house. Hard plastic bottle caps also do the trick – just be sure to keep an eye on your cat so they aren’t trying to eat or choke on the caps.
You can also tie strips of fabric from worn towels or clothing together to make a rope. The messier it looks, the better! Tie the rope to a door knob for your cats to claw at. For added fun, sew or tie a few jingle bells onto the rope for your kitties to bat around.
Not enough of a challenge for you? Stay tuned, we have plenty more DIY cat toy ideas on the way!
