DALLAS — On Jan. 9, 2026, the SPCA of Texas received an urgent request from federal law enforcement agencies for immediate assistance in an active animal cruelty investigation. The request required emergency placement and care for potentially up to 70 dogs. The SPCA of Texas mobilized teams from its Animal Cruelty Investigations (ACI), Animal Care and Veterinary Care departments to respond.
Staff members went into action early Saturday morning, Jan. 10. After arriving at the property, they carefully loaded 56 dogs into crates and transported them to the Russell E. Dealey Animal Rescue Center, where intake, medical evaluations, forensic examinations and individualized care plans are underway.
“This situation required an immediate and coordinated response for a large number of animals, and we are grateful for our experienced and compassionate staff members whose expertise is critical in providing lifesaving care,” said SPCA of Texas Senior VP and Chief Operating Officer MeLissa Webber. “Our adaptable facilities allow the SPCA of Texas to assist law enforcement and partner agencies during large-scale responses and provide critical care to large numbers of animals when it is needed most.”
