Maxine is the kind of dog who lights up whenever she sees a person. She’s social, loving, and ready to make friends with just about anyone. Shelter staff adore her gentle, happy energy — she leans in for pets, offers soft eyes, and soaks up every bit of affection she can get.
But Maxine is facing one big challenge: she’s struggling to walk on leash or go outside in the shelter environment. The loud noises, constant activity, and unfamiliar surroundings have made her nervous about stepping out of her comfort zone. Even though she’s incredibly sweet, she freezes or hesitates when it’s time to head outdoors.
What she needs most is a calm, predictable home where she can decompress and build confidence at her own pace. With patience, positive experiences, and loving guidance, Maxine will blossom — she just needs someone to help her take those first steps (literally!). Her sweet spirit is still shining through in the shelter, but she needs a foster home to help her truly thrive.
If you can open your home to Maxine, even temporarily, you’ll be giving a wonderful dog the chance to feel safe, learn, and heal. 💛 Email foster@spca.org if you can provide lifesaving foster placement to Maxine.
