From Dumpster Puppy to Lovable Lap Dog – Miss Piggy’s Incredible Journey

We have an incredible story to share with you.

Meet Miss Piggy. Back in April, this little Pitbull puppy was found tossed in a dumpster like a piece of garbage. When the Dallas Animal Services and Dallas Police Department arrived on scene, the officers found her in a terrible state. She had what appeared to be several stab wounds to her head, as well as fractures to her jaw and skull. Despite her injuries, Miss Piggy seemed to know all the officers were there to help. 

DPD’s Animal Cruelty Unit were able to track down the little puppy’s owner, who was living out of his car and had been missing her for several days at that point. Upon learning what had happened to his beloved pet, he surrendered her so that she could get the extensive care she needed. 

Recovering from surgery

Miss Piggy required immediate attention, so DPD’s Animal Cruelty Unit rushed her to our friends at VCA Metroplex Animal Hospital. Even though she was in so much pain, her personality immediately captured the hearts of the VCA staff. One of the veterinary technicians decided to foster Miss Piggy for the SPCA of Texas while she recovered from her injuries. Snort-y, snuggly little Miss Piggy quickly endeared herself to her foster mom and her foster siblings. It was pretty clear that, once she was healed up, she already had the perfect home waiting for her. 

This good girl got some goodbye attention!

This week, Miss Piggy came to the SPCA of Texas’ Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center for her spay surgery. She spent the whole morning giving the SPCA of Texas veterinary team snuggles and kisses, and running around the surgery room looking for snacks (she was unsuccessful). Best of all, the DPD officers who rescued her from that dumpster came by for a final goodbye, with lots of hugs and tail scratches to send her off to her new life.

Miss Piggy, now named Yuki, was adopted by her foster mom yesterday and we couldn’t be happier that these two found each other. We’re so grateful to our partners with the Dallas Police Department, Dallas Animal Services and VCA Metroplex Animal Hospital for helping to make this story a happy one.
