Gustavo N. Hinojosa,
AIA, IIDA, NCARB, LEED AP

Owner, Hinojosa, Architecture & Interiors

A 13th generation Tejano, Gus grew up in San Antonio and is descended from the founding families of South Texas and Northern Mexico. He received a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Notre Dame in 1982 and returned to San Antonio to work with the newly established firm of Fisher Heck Lake & Flato.

Throughout his career, Gustavo worked for the prestigious firms of Skidmore Owings & Merrill and Gensler. While at these firms, he worked on a variety of domestic and international projects.

In the summer of 2009 he founded Hinojosa Architecture & Interiors, PLLC. This boutique firm provided big firm experience with a small firm design focus. Gus led the design of the Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center, helping the organization realize a 40% increase in adoption rates, proving that design does matter and is good business.

Gus closed his firm in 2013 to join HKS as the Director of Commercial Interiors. He is a registered architect in Texas as well as New York State. He is on the board of TACA, the Notre Dame alumni group-GALA-ND/SMC, and the architectural committee for Dallas Independent School District. He is founder and president of the Leal-Hinojosa Scholarship Fund. Along with his partner and rescue dog “Bear” he lives in the Farmers Market District of Dallas.
