Meet Darwin!
Darwin was just a wee little pup when he first arrived in our care, and now he’s a handsome 1-year-old who has spent far too much of his young life in the shelter. This long-stay boy urgently needs a foster home where he can decompress, learn, and finally experience the comfort of a home environment.
The shelter can be overwhelming for Darwin. He becomes overstimulated during playgroup, needs time to settle afterward, and may pull on the leash while navigating the busy shelter. He can also show signs of fear, anxiety, and stress around other dogs and during medical handling, such as lip licking and wide eyes. A calm, patient foster who can give him structure and time to adjust would make a tremendous difference.
Outside the shelter, Darwin has shown us how wonderful he can be! He has participated in several Borrow-a-Buddy outings and received great reports. He greets new people appropriately, has interacted well with other dogs on outings, and rides nicely in the car. These experiences suggest that Darwin may thrive once he has the chance to leave the stressful shelter environment behind.
Darwin needs a foster who will help him decompress, practice his leash manners, and learn how to settle in a home. With patience, consistency, and plenty of love, this sweet young dog has so much potential. If you can give Darwin the break he desperately needs, please reach out to our foster team!
